Around 70 members enjoyed an evening in the company of Martin Keene MVO, Group Picture Editor of the Press Association. Martin is an accomplished speaker and we were thoroughly entertained as he began by sharing experiences from his early career in photo journalism. Trekking the Himalayas with The Duchess of York sounded uncomfortable but looked spectacular in the pictures illustrating Martin’s talk, as did that iconic shot of Diana at the Taj Mahal. Bringing us right up to date we heard about the work of the Press Association today, its contributors and subscribers. A real insight into the lengths taken to achieve the pictures we see in the news each day. We were even encouraged to send in our very own photos. Martin tells us that all weathers the more extreme the better, the moon and all its faces, nature in all seasons and traffic photos, the sillier the better, are always in popular demand! Who knows, one of us might make a front page one day!
