Dear Member,
Thank you for braving the rather nasty January weather last Wednesday night and coming along to the first KeWI meeting of the new year. It was lovely to see so many of you there. St Anne’s Hall was full to bursting. Amongst the gathering of up to 60 people, were many new faces and we do hope, new or old friend, you all felt welcome. Our Speaker last night was BBC Radio 4 producer Eleanor Garland and what a wonderfully entertaining and informative talk she gave. Our thanks go to Eleanor for her time, but also for donating her fee to our Charity, The Women’s Safe Houses, Chiswick. We were able to add a further £98 to the charity fund, thanks to your generosity in our Raffle. KeWI Groups We are fortunate at KeWI to be able to offer so much more than just our 11 monthly meetings. We have a varied selection of groups for you to join, lead by members. If you have ideas for a group you are interested in setting up, please do get in touch. Subscriptions Thank you to everyone who has paid their subscriptions. Happily we had quite a flurry of cheques last night. We are hoping to have a complete and up to date membership list, with payments, ready for when our own KeWI subs are required soon. If paying your subs is something you keep meaning to do but haven’t yet, there is still time and we will accept cheques at our February meeting or you could simply pay electronically. New members will need to fill out the membership form. Thank you. In Other News WI Centenary 2015 sees the centenary of the WI which is being marked by a variety of events up and down the country including a WI baton which will travel from Federation to Federation. In May the Baton will arrive in London and so on 23rd May the “London” WIs plan to gather in Hyde Park to share in the celebrations together. The organiser, Streatham WI’s president Angie, is asking for a representative or two from each London WI to join her to help make our celebrations worthy of this historic occasion. Please get in touch if you are interested. KeWI’s Centenary celebrations How shall we mark the 100 years of the WI? We could have a party, a Bake Off or maybe create a tapestry or quilt as a lasting memorial for KeWI?
